It’s More Than Just Peaches and Cream in Atlanta, GA

Atlanta is certainly an interesting city. I can’t say I would go there on vacation, but then again, I’ve never heard anyone say that. I think a foodie would have the best vacation of their life here. I’ve visited the city at least 4 or 5 times since I have family there, so I know the ins and outs to a degree.
The Atlanta Food Scene
To be fair, I’m a total foodie, so the city was good for me. All I’ve heard from locals is that it’s a great place to live, but most said they wouldn’t visit unless they knew someone. And with that being said, I’m going to discuss my favorite foodie places because they were delicious.
Let’s start with discussing my favorite breakfast place. It’s one of the only places in Atlanta that I’ve visited on more than one of my trips. The West Egg Café has some incredible food, especially the apple butter. I always get the chicken and waffles… which is technically just waffles with a side of fried chicken. By far, a breakfast worth having.
First up, I’d like to mention the Brick Store Pub in Decatur. It’s pretty cheap in my opinion, and they had lots of good choices. The have over 100 beers on draft. The restaurant/pub has been around for 25 years too, so I’d say they’re doing pretty well so far. The ambiance is really cute too.
If you’re looking for something sweet, then I’d recommend Butter and Cream. It’s an incredible ice cream place in Decatur, right around the corner from the Brick Store Pub. Their flavor options are quite good, and they made homemade hot fudge which you can’t miss.

If you’re looking for a nice dinner out, consider The Garden Room. Definitely on the pricey side, with some small portions, but their dishes are incredible. They have some really delicious drink options that are pretty creative. The ambiance and the quality of the food makes a trip here well worth it. Expect to spend a bit of money here, but the night will be worth it. There is a dress code and reservations are definitely recommended, but overall it’s a can’t miss. Take a peek through the St. Regis Hotel while you’re at it. The bathroom made my jaw drop.
When it comes to grabbing a casual meal, whether it’s takeaway or eat in, you need to head to Upbeet in West Midtown. I’m still pretty upset that there is only one location, but it is worth the drive, no matter where you are in Atlanta. Everything is Organic, and priced around $15 for amazing portions. You can get grain bowls and salads, and I was totally obsessed. A great lunch spot or quick dinner. Super fast too, even with a line.
You might have heard of Jeni’s Ice Cream, but I don’t know why this is considered a staple in the area. It’s overpriced and you can’t even add whipped cream. There are so many better ice cream spots, like Bruster’s (great portions and you can add lots of toppings and ice cream flavors).
Anything Unrelated to Food?
Of course, there are actually other things to do in Atlanta besides, eat… I know, shocker right?
People come from all over to visit the Coca Cola Factory, World of Coca Cola, but personally that isn’t my vibe. I have been wanting to see some of the other major attractions though. The Georgia Aquarium is definitely on my need-to-visit list, and I also intend to check out Zoo Atlanta while I’m at it.
A staple of the Atlanta area is Ponce City Market, and I loved checking out that spot. Great for food, and there are a lot of little shops that are cute. You can’t miss this place, it’s iconic. You can walk there from the Beltline which also runs near Piedmont Park. If you like sports, you should catch an Atlanta Braves game too while you’re at it.

If you’re into history, the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library is right around the corner in Atlanta. It starts with a really interesting movie, and has a great aesthetic with some great digestible content that kept me very involved in the content. There’s a beautiful garden as well, right outside with a fountain.
