• Activities: Hike to scenic overlooks, visit free waterfalls like Kaaterskill Falls, explore historic sites like Mills Mansion with some gorgeous sunsets (pictured) and Olana Historic Site (free admission on specific days), which was home to Frederic Church.

Food: Pack a picnic lunch for your adventures or treat yourself to a historic meal at the Beekman Arms, the Oldest Inn in America (lunch options are more affordable).

Boston (2 days):

Bonus: If visiting in summer, swing by the L.L.Bean outlet near Portland for deals and free summer concerts/events.

• Accommodation: Embrace nature by camping at campgrounds like Blackwoods Campground (reservations recommended). Glamping options are also available for a touch of luxury.

• Activities: Hike Cadillac Mountain to see the first place that the sun rises on the East Coast (parking fee applies), explore tide pools along the shore, kayak or bike scenic carriage roads, soak in the beauty of Jordan Pond. The BeeHive Loop is my favorite trail, with the coolest views!

• Food: Pack meals and snacks for hikes, grab sandwiches or picnic fare at park stores, or enjoy local restaurants in nearby Bar Harbor (slightly pricier).
