You’ve already made a great choice by deciding to visit Breckenridge, so kudos to you. It’s one of my favorite mountain towns in the world. I’ve spent more than six months living here and have stayed all around town, so I have plenty of tips to help you plan your visit.

Getting to and around Breckenridge
If you’re flying into Colorado, then you’ll want to book your ticket to Denver International Airport. My favorite flight booker for the best rates is Avia Sales, so I’d definitely recommend checking that site out.
Once you land in Denver, it’s less than a two hour drive to reach Breckenridge, weather dependent. Having a car can make a big difference depending on where you stay, and to make it more convenient to get around.
Planning to rent one? I always book through DiscoverCars because their prices are consistently good. Try to rent a car with 4-wheel drive or winter tires if possible.
The town plows often, but the roads can still get icy, and you’ll definitely want that extra traction when snow starts falling.
In terms of parking, there are tons of lots around town. Keep in mind that most spots downtown are paid and only for a few hours, so if you’re planning to ski all day, you need to go to a lot.
Breckenridge ski resort has some massive lots right next to the gondola, and don’t forget to pay because there are huge fines. You can also park for free at the Airport Road Lot and take the free shuttle straight to the gondola. It’s one of the best setups of any ski town I’ve ever visited.
Don’t want to drive? No problem. Breckenridge even has a free bus system that connects the entire town, so you’re covered with or without a car.

Best downtown hotels in Breckenridge
If you want to stay close to everything without relying on a shuttle (they don’t operate into the night by the way!), downtown Breckenridge is the best area to base yourself. You’ll be within walking distance of most restaurants, shops, and après-ski spots in town. This spot also gives you easy access to the slopes through the free shuttle system.
River Mountain Lodge
My first time staying downtown, I stayed at River Mountain Lodge and it became one of my favorite Breckenridge hotels. I stayed here last winter, and it’s just one street behind Main Street. You can walk everywhere, and the free shuttle stops right out front, so getting to the gondola is easy.
The rooms are super comfortable and feel very homey. Plus there is a gym, a heated pool, and hot tub which are my favorite amenities after a long day on the mountain.
I would definitely consider it one of the most convenient stays in town for anyone who wants to be right in the center of it all.
The Inn at the Carlin
If you want something a bit quieter but still in town, The Inn at the Carlin is a super nice boutique hotel in Breckenridge. It’s a bit quieter since it’s tucked into the city more, and it’s a bit further from the mountain, but still only a few steps from the shuttle stop.
Main Street is also only a few minutes walk away, but if you value a calm space, this is much better. It’s perfect if you love being downtown but want a more relaxed atmosphere.

Gravity Haus Breckenridge
Gravity Haus is a really cool hotel in Breckenridge, so I always mention it, plus it’s right off the slopes. The vibe is super modern and social, with a really nice fitness center, hot tubs, and an aesthetic mountain design.
They have a coffee shop and on-site restaurant, Cabin Juice which is a great spot to unwind after a long day of skiing.
