Work From Paradise: Why Sun & Co is Your New Go-To

The digital nomad life – freedom, flexibility, and the constant struggle to find decent Wi-Fi. While the allure of working from anywhere in the world is undeniable, the reality can be a bit bumpy, especially when it comes to finding a productive and inspiring workspace. Over the course of my travels, I’ve encountered cafes with spotty connections, overcrowded co-working spaces, and frankly, some pretty uncomfortable “work from bed” situations. But then, I stumbled upon Sun & Co Coliving and Coworking in Jávea, Spain, and let me tell you, it completely changed the game.

Jávea (pronounced Ha-vay-a) itself is a charming coastal town on Spain’s Costa Blanca, also known as Xàbia in Valencian. Nestled between beautiful cliffs and crystal-clear waters, it offers a beautiful blend of history, culture, and stunning natural beauty. But Javea’s appeal goes beyond its aesthetics – it also boasts a vibrant digital nomad community, and Sun & Co sits right at the heart of Old Town.

Now, Sun & Co isn’t just a place to stay; it’s a full-fledged coliving experience designed specifically for remote workers. It offers everything you need to thrive as a digital nomad, from comfortable coliving accommodations to a truly exceptional work environment.

The Coliving Workspace:

One of the things that immediately impressed me about Sun & Co was the sheer variety of workspaces available. No matter your working style or mood, there’s a spot perfectly suited to your needs. Feeling chatty and social? The common area is your best bet. Need to concentrate and knock out some serious work? The dedicated workroom has you covered. Craving some fresh air and sunshine? Grab your laptop and head outside to the patio and you have a choice between a table, yoga mat, or couch to sit on.

They even have a dedicated Skype room – a lifesaver for those important video calls where a barking dog or noisy neighbor isn’t exactly ideal. Imagine sitting on a sun-drenched patio, basking in the warmth of the Spanish sun while crushing your to-do list – Sun & Co makes that a reality.

The Coworking Space Down the Street:

While the co-living space has everything you need for most days, there’s also a fantastic coworking space just down the street that’s perfect for those times when you need laser focus, and it’s included in your stay! You can also get a community pass if you want to live somewhere else during your time in Jávea. There’s nothing quite like the energy of a space filled with other motivated individuals all hustling towards their goals. This coworking space has it all – a quiet, focused atmosphere, a top-notch coffee machine to fuel your productivity, and dedicated call booths that you can reserve in advance.

Even though I didn’t spend a ton of time here, I could practically feel the waves of productivity emanating from the place. For those days when you need to truly dive deep and crank out some work, this is the spot.

The Beach House: My Productivity Palace

But my absolute favorite place to work in Jávea while at Sun & Co (and possibly throughout all my travels) is The Beach House. Now, this isn’t a part of the actual coliving space, but it’s just a short walk down the beach and deserves its own special mention.

The Beach House is a restaurant with a stunning oceanfront location, good wifi, and some outlets available so that you can get your work done while enjoying some delicious food and coffee. They have a rooftop terrace that becomes a fantastic open-air workspace during the daytime (don’t forget your swimsuit for a quick dip in between projects!). The view is absolutely breathtaking, and the ambiance is perfect for getting those creative juices flowing.

What truly elevates The Beach House as a work haven is their food and drink. Imagine fueling your productivity with beautifully presented, delicious meals and refreshing drinks – all within earshot of the calming ocean waves. The prices are quite reasonable considering the ambiance, making it a guilt-free indulgence.

Beyond the Workspaces: Building a Community

One of the biggest challenges of the digital nomad lifestyle can be feeling isolated. After all, spending your days staring at a laptop screen doesn’t exactly lend itself to fostering social connections. But at Sun & Co, they’ve addressed this head-on by creating a strong sense of community.

Every week, the coliving residents get together to discuss plans for the upcoming week. This includes three skill shares or roundtables – basically mini-workshops led by members of the community on topics they’re passionate about. The topics range from personal and professional development (like my own workshop on Intentional Living) to travel tips and everything in between.

This was a fantastic way to learn new skills, connect with like-minded individuals, and even share my own knowledge with the group. There were also always several social events planned each week, ranging from casual dinners to weekend outings. These events were a great way to unwind after a long day of work and bond with the other residents.

But it wasn’t just the planned activities that fostered a sense of community. The Slack group chat was constantly buzzing with impromptu plans, from spontaneous hikes to group dinners at local restaurants. There was always something to do and someone to do it with, both inside and outside of work hours.

This sense of community is truly what sets Sun & Co apart. It’s not just a place to work; it’s a place to connect, learn, and grow. It’s a place where you can feel supported, inspired, and like you belong.

Jávea: Your Spanish Playground

Now, let’s not forget about the town of Jávea itself! Stepping outside of Sun & Co, you’ll find yourself in a charming coastal paradise. The historic old town, perched on a hill overlooking the Mediterranean, is a labyrinth of narrow streets, charming plazas, and beautiful churches. Wander through the local shops, sample the delicious tapas scene, or simply relax and soak up the atmosphere in one of the many cafes.

Jávea also boasts stunning beaches with crystal-clear waters and soft, golden sand. Whether you’re a sunbather, a water sports enthusiast, or simply enjoy a leisurely stroll along the shore, Jávea’s beaches have something for everyone. For the more adventurous, there are also plenty of hiking and biking trails in the surrounding mountains, offering stunning views and a chance to escape the hustle and bustle of town. Montgo is a good example of that since it’s a one-day hike of a mountain that is visible from everywhere in town (pictured).

My time at Sun & Co in Jávea was truly a transformative experience. It wasn’t just about the beautiful location or the amazing workspaces (although those certainly didn’t hurt!). It was about the sense of community, the constant learning opportunities, and the overall feeling of being supported and inspired.
